Visit the Lions at Dambwa Game Reserve

On the 26th of August 2011, Lion Encounter released a pride of lions into Lion Encounter’s Dambwa Game Reserve. These lions will learn to hunt and live by themselves, catching their own dinner and bonding socially as a pride. This site is approximately 700 acres set in the beautiful Dambwa Forest and home, not only to our pride, but puku, wildebeest, zebra and impala. The lions are radio collared and can be tracked by our VHF tracking device.

Lion Encounter invites you to visit our Reserve and take part in this rare opportunity to witness this conservation project in action….

You will be picked up from your lodge or hotel and taken out to the Dambwa Forest approx 25 KM outside of Livingstone town. From here, you’ll enter the reserve for your game drive, and a chance to visit these pioneering lions. Your drive will last approximately an hour and a half, after which you can stop for a soft drink or water and then head back to your accommodation.

Minimum number of guests 2, maximum 8. although do please contact us to discuss options for larger groups .

The Lion Drive is offered twice a day, AM & PM. Bookings on request please as due to the nature and location of the site we cannot guarantee departures daily.
